Reverend Doctor Dylon T. Young, a native of Chicago, IL is a U.S. Air Force veteran.  He accepted his call to ministry in October of 2000.  He was licensed to preach in June 2003 and was locally ordained in July 2006.  His ordination was nationally recognized and accepted by the American Baptist Churches, USA in December 2008.

Rev. Young accepted God’s call to Pastor St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Omaha, NE in March 2020.  Pastor Young began his tenure during an unprecedented time in our nation's history (COVID-19).  Guided by the Holy Spirit, and acting on the oft quoted phrase, "don't waste a good crisis", he recognized the opportunity to elevate the church's technological footprint.  He immediately increased the church's social media presence, enacted virtual church business meetings, weekly online teaching, and launched the church's first website in its 60+ year history.  He is continually exploring ways to leverage technology to reach the global community with the gospel of Christ.

Before accepting this Pastorate, Doctor Young served as the Director of Christian Education for King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church in Omaha, NE from November 2015–February 2020. In conjunction with the Senior Pastor, Young helped to coordinate community outreach events to include block parties and back to school events.  He played a key role in leading evangelism and outreach efforts in the church.  This included not only reaching and witnessing to the community but equipping members by conducting discipleship outreach classes.  Rev. Young also worked effectively in the church’s teaching and preaching ministries.

Rev. Young served as the Pastor of Miracle Hills Church from April 2011 – September 2015.  Under his leadership at Miracle Hills Church, membership increased 110%.  During his tenure, partnerships were formed with local apartment complexes to sponsor and conduct outreach events.   The youth ministry was bolstered by establishing “Youth Sundays”, “Teen-Nights” and “Youth Lock-ins.”  Reverend Young was able to reenergize the Sunday school program, creating four separate classes for young children through adults to include a New Believer’s orientation class.

His previous ministries included being an Associate Pastor, Minister of Christian Education and a Sunday School Teacher at Stranger’s Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Bellevue, NE.  He has previously served as a Lay Minister with the Capehart Gospel Service in Bellevue, NE, the Vogelweh Gospel Service in Ramstein, Germany and was the Discipleship Outreach Coordinator at King Solomon Baptist Church in Colorado Springs, CO.

Reverend Young earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management from Bellevue University, NE and a Master of Public Administration Degree from The University of Oklahoma.  He has also earned a Master’s Degree in Biblical Studies from Grace University in Omaha, NE.  Reverend Young was conferred his Doctorate of Ministry in Pastoral Care with Sioux Falls Seminary in South Dakota.

Pastor Young also serves on the Executive Committee for the Congress of Christian Education for New Era Baptist State Convention of Nebraska.

Dr. Young is a Bi-Vocational Pastor who also works for the Defense Intelligence Agency as the Chief Information Officer Senior Representative to the United States Strategic Command, Offutt AFB, NE.

Doctor Young has an excitement for ministry and people.  He embraces the words of Jesus, "... Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." (Matt 25:40b) With this in mind, he searches for opportunities to actively engage with the local community and to positively impact lives with the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

He is married to the former Kim Shadell and they reside in Bellevue, NE.  They have three adult children.
